So today marks exactly 6 weeks since I started this little project and I have been enjoying this immensely. I am going to definitely make myself last until the end of all this. I want to prove, as a photographer, that I want to improve, that I can stay engrossed in a project, and that I have the dedication and determination to get something done. I do feel like I have gradually been doing all this so far. It is a great amount of fun too, which is awesome.
Thanks to this project I have been seeing more of the true beauty behind the simplest of object. This wind chime is a great example. One of the simplest of things made. A few metal tubes, some string, and some wind are the only things that are needed to make something so beautiful. I do have to admit, I like the sound of the wood chimes better, but they are beautiful instruments played by nature, and you have got to respect that.
Lightroom Use Update: If you have been following me on this blog you guys know that I have been using Lightroom as opposed to Apple Aperture for the past week or so. A new thing I have discovered while using it is the History system. I mean WOW! Who knew that something so simple (haha) would make me so happy in this program. Being able to go back and forth in my editing history is becoming a big thing in my workflow. While it was easy to go back a few steps in Aperture, there was nothing dedicated to going back and forth other than Undo and Redo buttons. Lightroom’s solution is much simpler.
5 Things I Appreciate: Once again following the Photofocus blog, I read their post “Five More Ways to Improve Your Photography Without Buying Gear,” and the last thing on this list is: “Be grateful. Every day write down at least five things you are grateful for. This is a superb way to open up the creative mind and to simultaneously flush out the bad stuff that stifles your creativity.” So I decided that I would do this every few days or so. If you, the reader, thinks this would not bore you.
- I would be nowhere if it weren’t for my amazing friends and family who support me in everything I do.
- I love all the photographers out there who encourage the newbies to become better and help them to do so without being so condescending.
- The invention of cloud computing and hard drives have really saved my ass this past couple of weeks and I have to thank God for them! Haha
- The mentors I have had in all my artistic endeavors have been more than amazing to me and all their pupils, and always pushing us to do our best.
- Film photography is definitely something I believe EVERY aspiring photographer should get to know. There is nothing more satisfying than watching your print go from camera to print in a matter of hours, days, weeks. It is truly wonderful!
I am working on a collabrative project with a person I have just started getting to know, but have to say is one of my favorite people who never has anything bad to say. So I will be posting the picture we work on tomorrow and will blog about that experience. I have also given this person the ability to post their thoughts on how this shoot worked out. So come back tomorrow for that exciting photograph =)
